As part of our Hauora Inquiry unit we have been getting out for nature strolls to see what we can observe. The beautiful Autumnal colours are blowing our minds! We created these temporary mandala art pieces using bits and pieces we found on our stroll lay it out on a nice white background and took a photo. We're stoked with the results, see below:

  1. Your autumn art is very clever. The light background makes the colours in the leaves stand out. We liked the way you have combined lots of natural materials such as shells, cones, flowers, cones and stones. Did you collect the materials around your school, or did you bring them from your homes? Do you know the names of the trees whose leaves you used in your art? We have a lot of native trees in our grounds, so the colour changes are not always obvious. We think we recognise the leaves off a gingko tree. Are we right?

  8. Hi my name is Sofia I go to Kaniere school. This is very cool that you used most things outside like leaves and flowers and it is very colourful wich is very cool also. I think I might try this and get my mum to take a photo so I can put it on my wall.

  13. Hi, I am Renny from Kaniere school.
I really like your art, it looks great. I might try it myself. Next time if you have acorns you could use them. My school has an acorn tree and we find lots of acorns. I like making piles of acorns and making stick men when I am waiting for mum to pick me up. I use the acorn tops for hats on the stick people. Did you do it in pairs? The art looks really beautiful with the nice leaves. Did you print it out and take it home?
